This lonely landscape is probably influenced at least a little by my recent time with Shadow of the Colossus. It is a gorgeous, epic, very elegant game, and everyone could learn a lot from playing it. Plus, it's fun. This pic was itching around in the back of my head for about a week, before I finally sat down and took about 2 hours to do it the other day. PS. Addicted to long vertical formats. Yum.

Tactical Sniper Asheru by Scott Ruggels

Here is some line art, detailing the costume that Asheru is wearing in the previous picture. I just picked the year 2044 because it was graphically interesting, but other than her rifle, all of her gear is based on current S.W.A.T. Tactical gear, and she is outfitted as a tactical sniper. The rifle is just based on some ballistic theories, and was done as an all meta/synthetic rifles with a telescoping bolt and free floating barrel (and a Burris Bipod). My first rendering of a new character, a black snow leopard by the name of Zhed, which unless I am horribly mistaken roughly translates to 'Fear' in tibetan. Size: 38 x24 inches at 250 dpi. The psd ended up being well over 500mb in size. Time taken: ehm I really havent a clue, in excess of 30 hours..at the very least. Prints: yes (pm me if interested in 8x10 at 10$ plus shipping). Larger limited edition prints available at conventions. Watermark: sorry folks, I really don't want someone making money off my time and effort...though I hate watermarking my work. This is the first piece in a series of artwork that is still technically ongoing (which I am working on over an uncertain length of time). Featuring anthropomorphic characterisations of North American wildlife and influenced by Native American Indian craft and culture. The art direction is something different to what I usually do, and this is quite a leap for me. I don’t usually concern myself over consistency in style and I’ve paid painful attention to the element of realism here… the characters are not my usual ‘animal head on human body’ result and I’ve completely reviewed the anatomy. Back to the actual art; a coyote performs a sacred smudging ceremony with bound sage bundle and feather fan. I’m a sucker for feathers! :p (Artwork © Leona Preston 2005)
